Board of Directors

Financial Literacy Training

Directors are required to:
• have at least a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices
• have the ability to read and understand their credit union’s balance sheet and income statement
• have the ability to ask, as appropriate, substantive questions of management and the internal and external auditors
• have an understanding of the risks involved with each of their products and service

They also have to have BSA training in the following areas:
- General BSA/AML requirements
- Ramifications of non-compliance
- Risk posed if an adequate program is not in place
- More of an overview and not as detailed as that for operations personnel

Your league offers a variety of programs to help you meet the requirements. Some come with a free audio archive available for 60 days after the session. Some are archived for 6 months and include a free CD. Refer to the brochures for more information. They can be found here.
