2.  Credit/Debit Card Services (through Illinois Credit Union League Service Corporation)

The National Apollo Program is a credit card program designed for smaller credit unions ($1 - $10 million in assets) that will issue at least 50 cards.  This program is serviced through the ICUL Service Corporation, a subsidiary of the Illinois Credit Union League.  Apollo offers all the advantages of VISA/MasterCard: convenience, worldwide acceptance, and economic rewards to the issuing credit union.  ICUL Service Corporation provides complete back-office processing service.  Additionally, the cuCASH and cuCHECK programs provide a cost-effective way for smaller credit unions to offer debit cards priced on a per account per month basis - not on the number of transactions (with no minimum processing).

3.  Scholarship Assistance

The Herbert Ellison Memorial Scholarship Fund was developed to assist small credit unions in furthering the education of their employees and volunteers related to credit union philosophy, management, and operations. Scholarships are available to small credit unions for attendance at the Southeastern Credit Union School, Certified Credit Union Executive Programs, CUNA Schools, and other educational opportunities.

Shared Branching

Shared Service Center Network (through CU Service Corporation)

CU Service Centers are a unique cooperative service for credit unions which provides ìbranch officeî services to their members on a cost-sharing basis.  The Service Centers are electronically linked allowing members of participating credit unions to use any Service Center location in the network to conduct business as if they were at a branch of their own credit union.  A credit union with an under-utilized branch office may open one or all of its locations as an "Outlet" to serve members of credit unions that participate in the CU Service Center Network while reducing their overhead costs of operations.  Credit unions may participate as a "User Only" or as an "Outlet Owner - User".

Debit Card Services

1.  Debit Card Services (through Fidelity National Information Services (FIS))

FIS provides easier and more complete access to checking accounts through their low-cost, off-line debit card program for credit unions.  Debit cards also provide ATM access for credit unions through Visa.  All back-office functions are handled by FIS.

2.  Prepaid Reloadable Debit Cards (through Illinois Credit Union League Service Corporation )

Through the CUMONEY program, prepaid reloadable debit cards carry the VISA logo on the front of the card and cardholders can add value to the card at anytime.  In addition to the 20 million VISA locations worldwide, the reloadable cards also work at ATMs and merchants anywhere you see the Plus or Interlink (pinned based pos) networks.    Under this program the credit union has no liability and no fraud exposure.  The card can be branded with the credit union logo.    Even if the credit union does not offer share drafts, you can offer your members CUMONEY.  It is also a good alternative for members that do not qualify for a debit card.

FIS offers a turnkey solution to credit card processing with availability of all MasterCard and Visa products.  FIS handles all back office functions, including accounting, security services, charge backs and customer service.  Credit unions can offer easy unsecured credit to their members while increasing  member convenience and credit union profitability.

Through the Self-Administered Program, larger credit unions can handle their own back office functions with FIS providing training and technical support.  With Internal Credit Card programs, credit unions perform their own credit card data processing in-house with support from FIS.

3.  Business Lending Program (through Newtek Small Business Finance (NSBF)

By working with Newtek's SBA lending Subsidiary - Newtek Small Business Finance (NSBF), credit unions can immediately offer member business loans without the added expense of hiring staff, having capital available, insalling software, upgrading systems or leanring Small Business Administration (SBA) rules. Credit unions can provide business members with access to SBA loans as small as $25,000 or as large as $2 million to expand or renovate facilities; purchase machinery equipment, fixtures and leasehold improvements; finance receivables and augment working capital; refinance existing debt, construct commercial buildings; and purchase land or buildings.

All the credit union has to do is refer the loan - Newtek will do the rest.. An NSBF financial consultant gathers all the information from the borrower and inputs it into the applicastion.  NSBF then underwrites, closes, funds and services the loan.  Closing can occur at the credit union, and the member may make payments from his/her credit union account.

Some credit unions prefer to participate in or fund the loans, while others may wish to conduct underwriting and/or servicing in-house.  NSBF's program accommodates your credit union's wishes,, whatever your interest or capacity.
