“The Martha Britt Scholarship honors both our past and our future here at Leaders Credit Union, and we are proud to be a small part of these students’ academic journeys toward success,” President and CEO of Leaders Credit Union Todd Swims said.

Leaders Credit Union was founded by five Jackson educators in 1957 as the Jackson Madison County Teachers Credit Union.

Leaders continues to honor this legacy by championing students who excel in their academics and in their community.

Martha Britt was a champion in our community, serving for over thirty years in the Jackson- Madison County School System. Beginning in 2002, Britt amplified her community service by serving as a board director for Leaders Credit Union. Britt served as chairwoman of the scholarship committee and was instrumental in promoting educational opportunities for local students. On October 23, 2006, after her death, the board of directors named the annual scholarship in her honor. Britt’s legacy lives on through students who receive the Martha Britt Scholarship for exemplary dedication to education and to community.

The scholarship money received may be used at the students’ discretion to help cover costs associated with education including tuition, books, fees and various living costs. To learn more about Leaders Credit Union, visit leaderscu.com.
