Fortune Company statistics for 2024 state the average employee tenure at one job is 4.6 years. Only 9% of American workers reach a 50-year milestone at one employer.
Rare occasions still occur and one such event was celebrated in East Tennessee with Becky Cannon’s 50-year service anniversary at United Southeast Federal Credit Union. Fifty years of helping members live better lives thru the credit union movement is one of the most important accomplishments of Becky’s lifetime.
Becky began her career by working at a local telephone company. The credit union was a department within the telephone company and Becky decided to stop answering phones and start helping people in person and became a teller. Very soon an opportunity in the loan department became available. She then advanced to branch manager.
“The credit union movement was focused 50 years ago on helping people in the community gain access to fair financial services,” said Becky. “I wanted to be involved in something that truly made a difference. Credit unions will never lose the human touch, even though there is an ongoing focus on digital and online services at financial institutions.”
Regardless of the financial industry changes, Becky continues to partner with USFCU to meet the financial needs of members in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
Becky’s co-workers showered her with cards and gifts as did the members who dropped by the Branch Office for a piece of Becky’s celebration cake!
Thank you, Becky, and a BIG congratulations on 50 years of service and commitment to United Southeast Federal Credit Union!
