Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union—Carrying Forward Dolly’s Spirit of Giving

Throughout the years, Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union has supported efforts connected to Dolly Parton’s work, but perhaps even more importantly, we have tried to embody the generous spirit she represents. In East Tennessee, Dolly’s influence is far beyond her music and career. Her love for her neighbors, commitment to helping others and pride in this community are qualities we all hope to carry forward.

ATFCU has also supported Dolly’s mission more directly through our involvement with the local Kiwanis Club. Donations made through Kiwanis have helped support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program especially meaningful to Dolly and to families throughout our communities.

That support continues today. In honor of Dolly and the cause that meant so much to her, ATFCU employees are making donations in exchange for wearing jeans over the next couple days. The credit union will match every dollar raised, with the full amount donated directly to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. It is a simple but meaningful way for our staff to come together, celebrate her legacy and help continue the work she held so close to her heart.

That same giving spirit can be seen throughout ATFCU. At our Vonore branch, employees are especially passionate about helping others during the holidays. Through bake sales and other efforts, they raise money to support local schools and families in need. Their work is a wonderful example of neighbors recognizing a need and finding a way to help.

Our credit union has also stepped forward during some of the most difficult moments our region has faced. ATFCU gave following the devastating 2016 Great Smoky Mountains wildfires and again after Hurricane Helene caused widespread destruction across Western North Carolina and surrounding areas in 2024. Both disasters struck close to home and reminded us how important it is for communities to come together during times of need.

During the holiday season, our offices collect food for Second Harvest Food Bank and donations for the Junior Service League of Blount County. However, our commitment to the community does not end when the holidays are over. Throughout the year, ATFCU supports local schools, athletic teams, clubs, and community organizations.

Dolly has shown the world what it means to remember where you came from and use what you have to help others. Her compassion, humility and love for East Tennessee continue to inspire us. At ATFCU, we are proud to carry a small part of that spirit forward by caring for our neighbors, supporting our communities, and giving whenever we can.
