Ascend Federal Credit Union Donates $10,000 to National Credit Union Foundation

Ascend Federal Credit Union is donating $10,000 to the National Credit Union Foundation.

This represents the first donation from Ascend’s Charitable Donation Account (CDA), which was established by its Board of Directors.

The CDA is an investment vehicle through which the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) allows purchases of investments for the primary purpose of generating additional funds in support of charitable endeavors.

“The mission of the National Credit Union Foundation is to improve people’s financial lives through credit unions,” Ascend President and CEO Caren Gabriel said. “They do this in a number of ways – from sponsoring financial education and curriculum for children to helping credit union staff and volunteers get back on their feet after a disaster.”

With more than $2 billion in assets, Ascend is the largest credit union headquartered in Middle Tennessee and one of the largest federally chartered credit unions in the United States. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) selected Ascend as the 2015 Federal Credit Union of the Year. Ascend is federally insured by NCUA.
