Congress Returns to D.C.

Happy final week of August! The weather has been unseasonably cool in parts of the state this week, but if you’re a fan of hot air, do not fret! Congress returns from recess next week!

Credit Union Advocacy Priorities

All jokes aside, Congress’ return to session will ramp up a busy fall in advocacy. There’s still time to register for our September Hike the Hill. The hotel room block has closed, but rooms are still available.

We’ll be focusing this hike on the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) negotiations, Loan Maturity limits, Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) funding, as well as modernizing the Currency Transaction Report threshold to be in line with 2025 dollars.

Approaching 2026 Midterms

And while we all don’t want to read this, the 2026 midterm elections are a little over 14 months away. That means that candidates are fundraising now, members are preparing for re-election campaigns and challengers are readying their moves.

Does all of this seem like it happens all the time? Yes, but that’s our world. Have you updated your credit union’s CULAC permission agreement? Would you like to hear more about political fundraising? Let us know!

Remember: If you’re not at the table, you’re probably on the menu.
