Greater Eastern Credit Union Announces Name Change to Greater Experience Credit Union

Greater Eastern Credit Union has announced that it will officially change its name to Greater Experience Credit Union, marking an important milestone in the organization’s continued evolution and commitment to delivering exceptional service to its members.

Founded in 1952, the Credit Union has grown alongside the communities it serves, evolving from Mountain Home VA Employees Credit Union to Government Employees Credit Union of East Tennessee, and later to Greater Eastern Credit Union. Each name change reflected an expansion of membership and reach. This newest change represents something different.

“This name change isn’t about who we serve, it’s about how we serve,” said Sam Cantrell, CEO. “Greater Experience Credit Union reflects our promise to meet members where they are today and help them confidently move toward what’s next.”

The new name emphasizes the Credit Union’s focus on partnership, personal service, and meaningful financial guidance. It reflects a commitment to listening, encouraging growth, providing clear paths forward, and celebrating milestones alongside members.

Along with the new name, Greater Experience Credit Union will introduce an updated logo designed to highlight shared growth between the Credit Union and its members. Updated branding will roll out across branch signage and digital platforms in the coming months.

The rebrand is part of a broader set of enhancements planned for 2026, including:

  • Major upgrades to online and mobile banking this fall
  • New tools for online scam risk assessments and dark web monitoring
  • The introduction of new products, including high-rate checking and savings accounts

“These improvements represent a recommitment to our members,” Cantrell added. “Our team is united around one purpose, to provide a Greater Experience, one member, one moment, and one milestone at a time.”

Members will continue to enjoy the same trusted service, people, and commitment they’ve always known, now under a name that better reflects the Credit Union’s mission and future.
