Mississippi and Tennessee credit unions joined credit unions nationwide in celebrating #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day on Friday, July 31.
From member appreciation events and giveaways to community outreach and social media celebrations, credit unions found meaningful ways to recognize their members and showcase the positive impact they make in the communities they serve.
So, let’s start in Northeast Tennessee and travel south to Moss Point in Coastal Mississippi. Here’s a map that showcases our #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day journey!

Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union
Starting in Northeast Tennessee, Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union in Kingsport, Tenn., with a branch in Johnson City, hosted Camp Appy. They invited children to apply to participate in the day camp that included learning smart money habits to making memories with games, activities and a branch tour. Members were also gifted Appy T-shirts in the branches.
“Oh wow, those are nice,” wrote a member on Facebook about the T-shirts. “Wished we lived closer to get us one. We love our credit union!”
Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union
Our next stop takes us to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Alcoa, Tenn., a city named after the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), which operated in the community for nearly a century. The company’s credit union, now operating under a community charter, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
In honor of #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day, the credit union hosted a letter campaign inviting members to share why they love their credit union. The response was heartfelt, with members across its branch network sharing an array of comments highlighting the personal connections, service and community that make their credit union special.
“For 52 years, Alcoa Tenn has been our steady hand, our familiar faces and our favorite kind of banking—local, loyal and personal,” wrote one member.
Copper Basin Federal Credit Union
Traveling south to the tip of Southeast Tennessee, we stopped in Copperhill, Tenn., a community named for the copper mines that began operating in the area in the 1840s. Copper Basin Federal Credit Union treated members to delicious fried pies and doughnuts, served alongside refreshing cider.
“Love the good people at CBFCU (Copper Basin Federal Credit Union),” wrote one member on Facebook. “They’re an awesome group of individuals. Y’all have become more like friends. We are treated with kindness and respect.”
Scenic Community Credit Union
About 90 minutes east takes us to Chattanooga, Tenn., where Scenic Community Credit Union provided members with light snacks and drinks as a token of appreciation.
“One of the best parts of #IloveMyCreditUnion Day was getting to see firsthand just how much our members appreciate our branch,” said Helen Scott, teller at Scenic Community Credit Union’s Soddy Daisy Branch. “It was so much fun watching everyone eagerly grab a note card, share their stories and write down the reasons they love the Soddy branch! Seeing those heartfelt testimonials, along with all the smiles and excitement over the snacks made for a very rewarding Friday.”
“Moments like today are a great reminder that what we do is about so much more than just transactions,” said Jourdan Reyes, director of marketing and communications at Scenic Community Credit Union. “It’s about building relationships and serving a community we’re proud to be a part of.”
Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union
Hoping east over to Lynchburg, Tenn., home of Tennessee Whiskey at the Jack Daniel Distillery. The Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union celebrated with treats and a balloon display.
“Love my credit union,” wrote a Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union on Facebook. “They are all amazing.”
MPD Community Credit Union
Going north to Nashville, MPD Community Credit Union served lunch to members on #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day.
“MPD Community Credit Union is the best,” wrote a member on Facebook. “I love my Credit union because you are known there, staff care about you and your financial future! I love my CU.”
Patriot-Equity Credit Union
Heading west to Jackson, Tenn., where Patriot-Equity Credit Union has been serving members since 1929. They celebrated with an in-branch photo booth, custom cookies and popcorn.
Eagle Express Federal Credit Union
Heading south to Jackson, Miss., Eagle Express Federal Credit Union wore commemorative #ILoveMyCreditUnion T-shirts and served members treats.
Rivertrust Federal Credit Union
Just down the road from Jackson in Pearl, Miss., Rivertrust Federal Credit Union staff greeted members in custom #ILoveMyCreditUnion T-shirts and had an array of credit union goodies and snacks for members.
1st Mississippi Federal Credit Union
Heading east on I-20 to Merdian, Miss., 1st Mississippi Federal Credit Union where members and employees were treated to snow cones.
“Today was all about celebrating YOU—our amazing members,” wrote 1st Mississippi Federal Credit Union on social media. “Thank you to everyone who stopped by, enjoyed the fun, grabbed a sweet treat, and spent time with us. Days like today remind us why we love serving our community! There’s no better way to strengthen the connection between a financial institution and the people it serves than by coming together, sharing smiles, and building relationships.”
