Tennessee Approves New Congressional Map, Splitting Memphis’ 9th Congressional District into Three Separate Districts

As expected, the 2nd extraordinary session of the 114th General Assembly of Tennessee concluded Thursday afternoon with the passage of new congressional maps. Only the first and second districts, represented by Congresswoman Harshbarger and Congressman Burchett respectively, remain 100% of what they were previously.

It will take a little bit for the new maps to be perfectly correlated to searchable addresses on the General Assembly’s website, but we will do our best to help you get acquainted to the changes. These new maps are expected to be used, barring any successful court challenges, in the midterm elections, of which the general election will be held on Nov. 3.

Also today, after the passage of the new maps, Memphis Republican and State Senator Brent Taylor announced a bid to run for the 9th Congressional District.

September Hike the Hill

While members of Congress will be serving in their current districts until a new Congress is sworn in the first week of January, our September Hike the Hill will represent an early opportunity to potentially get to know a new member in advance of the changes.

If you have any questions about the new maps, our Advocacy Team will be happy to assist.
