OMC Employees Credit Union is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in its history. As of June 1, 2025, the credit union has rebranded as Hiwassee River Credit Union, reflecting its broader community focus and continued commitment to serving the financial needs of members across Southeast Tennessee.
The new name, inspired by the iconic Hiwassee River that flows through the heart of the region, represents the credit union’s strong roots and enduring connection to the community. While the name is changing, the credit union’s dedication to exceptional service, personalized financial solutions, and member-first values remains stronger than ever.
“We’ve grown beyond our original charter, and it’s time our name reflected that growth,” said Stephanie Young, CEO of Hiwassee River Credit Union. “The Hiwassee River is a symbol of strength, connection and resilience—qualities that align with our mission to empower members and support the communities we serve.”
Founded in 1969, OMC Employees Credit Union was originally chartered to serve employees of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation and their family members. Over the decades, the credit union has expanded its field of membership to include Arch Chemicals, Lonza, Sigura and most recently Solenis, employees and their family members. The new name positions the credit union for continued growth while honoring its legacy by moving to a community-based charter servicing Bradley, Polk and McMinn counties.
Members can expect to see the new brand rolled out across all communications and digital platforms in the coming weeks. All account numbers, services and online banking credentials will remain the same, and no action is required from members.
