Shared Branching Network Turns 50

In 1975, five visionary credit unions in Detroit came together to create something extraordinary: a cooperative branch network built on trust, access and service. Today, that idea has grown into the nation’s largest cooperative branch system — connecting thousands of credit unions across the country to deliver nationwide access and personalized, member-first service.

The Tennessee Credit Union League’s Solutions Group is honored to work with Velera’s Co-op Shared Branch Network, and we congratulate the organization on its 50th anniversary.

Shared Branching Benefits

Shared Branching helps credit unions:

  • Deliver nationwide access and personalized, member-first service.
  • Meet rising member expectations for geographic mobility.
  • Unlock acquirer value by turning branches into revenue-generating hubs, welcoming members from across the network and boosting non-interest income.
  • Compete with national banks – without expanding your own branch footprint.
