On behalf of the Tennessee Credit Union League, we wish you a very happy International Credit Union Day! Thank you for helping to improve the financial well-being of all members.
We asked credit union leaders to share their International Credit Union Day plans, and here’s a look at some of the festivities across the Volunteer State!
Ascend Federal Credit Union, Tullahoma
“ICU Day is about celebrating the difference credit unions make in the lives of their members and communities,” said Matt Jernigan, president and CEO of Ascend Federal Credit Union. “For us, that means recognizing the people who make our mission possible — our members and employees. We’re partnering with Water’s Edge Chocolates, a local small business, to share sweet treats with members in our branches and providing breakfast to employees to thank them for their continued commitment to serving our members.”
Cornerstone Financial Credit Union, Nashville
“We are celebrating at our branches and on social media all week,” said Brendan Olsen, director of marketing and communications at Cornerstone Financial Credit Union. “Members can sign up to win 1 of 2 $100 Visa Gift Cards at each branch, our team has small Dunkin’/Chic-fil-A cards to hand out to brighten our members day and we’ll have chances to win Amazon, gas and Visa Gift Cards on Facebook/Instagram. Also, our branches will be serving cookies and refreshments on ICU Day. We are excited to celebrate the cooperative spirit and all that make the credit union family great!”
Scenic Community Credit Union, Chattanooga
“This year, we are setting up booths again at each location and set up an invite on our socials for our members to come visit us,” said Jourdan Reyes, director of marketing and communications at Scenic Community Credit Union. “We will have snacks available but a little twist this year is knowing that our members love calendars, we created an “exclusive” calendar of our staff!”
United Southeast Federal Credit Union, Bristol
“We are celebrating International Credit Union Day on October 16,” said Tiffany Goforth, chief marketing officer at United Southeast. “This day is a highlight each year for our members who love receiving pocket calendars, refreshments and lots of smiles! An addition this year will be to highlight ways to keep your accounts safe by distributing Fraud Awareness inserts for the 2026 calendar. A lucky member will also be given a Visa gift card. Social media posts will occur during the week to recognize and celebrate this annual event!”
Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union, Crossville
“We are thrilled to be celebrating our membership during the month of October,” said Jessie Belicek with Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union. “The credit union wanted to celebrate our 90th anniversary with our members by offering a variety of food trucks at select UCFCU locations for our members to enjoy absolutely free. We will be hosting a free Shred Day, then we are wrapping up the celebrations on ICU Day with some giveaways. We’re giving away $4,000 in cash prizes and surprising a few lucky members by paying off $20,000 in UCFCU loans at random.”
“As a member-owned cooperative, the credit union wants to express our gratitude during the month of October for the trust and commitment that our members place in us,” said Amy Beasley, president and CEO of Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union. “Their trust is the cornerstone of our continued existence and success.”
