Tennessee Credit Unions Support Children’s Miracle Network Through CU4Kids

Whether your child sticks a LEGO Olaf nose up their nose or perhaps needs ongoing pediatric health care, Tennesseans are fortunate to have five children’s hospitals throughout the state.

Since 1996, credit unions across the nation have supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) program. Tennessee credit unions have been champions for the organization to help create a healthier, happier future for families and communities for years to come.

Tennessee credit unions and League-Chapters have already begun hosting events to support CU4Kids in 2024.

“During our February meeting, The Chattanooga Chapter of Credit Unions had the privilege of touring the Kennedy Outpatient Center with Andrea Perry Lyons, director of development for the Children’s Miracle Network,” said Brenda Edwards, president of the Chattanooga Chapter of Credit Unions and chief operations officer at Scenic Community Credit Union. “Chattanooga credit unions have a long history of proudly supporting Credit Unions for Kids, which directly benefits Erlanger Children’s Hospital in the Chattanooga area. The partnership makes sense! Credit unions are people helping people. We cannot think of a better way to support our community than that of helping our community’s children!”

United Southeast Federal Credit Union hosted a CU4Kids fundraiser.

“Casual Friday came on Wednesday, Feb. 7, as United Southeast Federal Credit Union team members came together to support CU4Kids,” said Patricia Short, vice president of human resources at United Southeast Federal Credit Union. “United Southeast Federal Credit Union team members proudly wore jeans and a promotional sticker for Miracle Jeans Day. It’s a simple way to help hospitals like our own local Niswonger Children’s Hospital.”

Throughout the fundraiser, Short said, “Members and team members repeatedly commented, ‘We are blessed to have available in our own community such a high level of care for our children.’”

Through USFCU team member donations, $1,000 was raised to benefit Niswonger Children’s Hospital.

US Community Credit Union and Enbright Credit Union collaborate to host the CU4Kids Golf Classic, which is now in its 15th year.

“The Golf Classic is one of the largest fundraisers for CU4Kids in Middle Tennessee,” said Ron Smith, president and CEO of Enbright Credit Union. “We are blessed to be able to collaborate with US Community and our teams throughout Middle Tennessee to host the event. We want to thank all community partners who have given to the Golf Classic for so many years. Through the tournament, we have funded several oncology rooms at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.”

This year’s tournament will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available! Visit the Golf Classic website to learn more.

Founder’s Award

Children’s Miracle Network will honor Credit Union for Kids with the Founder’s Award, a highly prestigious award, provided to a distinguished individual or organization who has made amazing contributions to CMN Hospitals. To help celebrate, Children’s Miracle Network has created a toolkit where you can help educate credit union members about the organization.
