Tennessee Sister Society to Host Fall Book Club

What if some of the qualities we’ve traditionally been told to separate from leadership—empathy, compassion, vulnerability and understanding—are among our greatest strengths as leaders?

Join the Tennessee Sister Society of the Global Women’s Leadership Club as we read and discuss “The Empathy Boss” by Sylvia Ghazi Ruma. Through personal stories and real-life leadership experiences, Ruma explores how family, culture, responsibility, resilience and empathy helped shape the leader she became.

This book challenges the idea that strong leadership must be tough or impersonal. Instead, it invites us to consider how we can lead with both confidence and compassion, build stronger relationships, navigate difficult situations, and create environments where people feel heard, valued and empowered.

Whether you currently lead a team, are preparing for your next leadership opportunity or simply want to grow your influence and impact, this conversation is for you.

Come ready to read, reflect, share and connect with other women who are committed to becoming stronger—and more human—leaders.

Our book club will be divided into two sessions, giving us time to reflect on the book’s ideas, share our leadership experiences, and discuss how we can put these lessons into practice in our careers, organizations and communities. Sessions will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, and Thursday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.
