Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union Celebrates 90th Anniversary

On June 5, Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union celebrated its 90th Anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that commemorated an extraordinary milestone—90 years of serving members, employees and communities.

“We were honored to have representatives from the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce join us and present a certificate officially recognizing today as TVFCU Day,” said Tammy Zumbrun, director of marketing/community engagement. “The occasion was further highlighted by remarks from David Griffiths of the Tennessee Credit Union League (TCUL), who shared thoughtful reflections on TVFCU’s longstanding partnership with TCUL and noted that TVFCU has been a member of the League since 1936. Then our fearless leader, Todd Fortner, gave a great talk about how much things have changed over the last 90 years, while emphasizing that our commitment to our members has remained unchanged. We ended the formal presentations with a ribbon cutting. The ribbon, made of $1, was then donated to the Children’s Miracle Network.”

More than 50 people attended the event, including team members, community partners, small businesses and special guests. TVFCU was pleased to have David Longmire present as a representative of the TVFCU Board of Directors during the celebration. His presence served as a meaningful representation of the commitment and support of both the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee.

“The event atmosphere reflected both our rich history and our excitement for the future,” said Zumbrun. “Attendees enjoyed festive decorations, including anniversary balloons, a display of memorabilia spanning TVFCU’s 90-year history and refreshments as they gathered to celebrate this important occasion.”

The celebration continued throughout the day with three live radio remotes at the Southside, North Cleveland and Dalton branches. These broadcasts provided an excellent opportunity to highlight TVFCU’s commitment to our communities, share information about our products and services, and celebrate this milestone with members. As part of the festivities, TVFCU gave away $90 gift cards during the radio remotes.

In addition, every TVFCU branch hosted a birthday party and did something special to recognize and thank members who stopped by to celebrate. These activities reflect TVFCU’s appreciation for the members who have made our success possible over the past 90 years.

The celebration continued at Riverfront Nights, where TVFCU’s marked the occasion with a 90s cover band, Little Debbie Birthday Cakes and the presentation of a joint proclamation from the City and County Mayors recognizing TVFCU’s 90th Anniversary.

Mr. P joined the festivities, tossed TVFCU t-shirts and beach balls from the stage while handing out fans to attendees. Most importantly, the group sang “Happy Birthday” to TVFCU. It was a memorable and fun-filled evening as we celebrated this remarkable milestone with our community.
