Big news from the Tennessee General Assembly! This week, both the House and Senate unanimously passed legislation to ban crypto ATMs from operating in the state of Tennessee.
As many of you are well aware, crypto ATMs have become a vector for fraud and scams often targeted at elderly members and there’s absolutely no way to recover the money once it’s deposited.
Credit Union Advocacy at Work
We have been working with multiple association partners this session to eliminate these devices and are now just Governor Lee’s signature away from completing that effort. The bill would become law on July 1, 2026.
The law will apply to crypto ATMs or virtual currency kiosks currently in use, as well as prohibiting the installation of any future devices.
