Northeast Community Credit Union (NCCU) celebrated the ribbon-cutting and official grand opening of Building 2 – Community Center & Operations in September. The ribbon-cutting also marked the completion of renovations to NCCU’s Main Office.
The expansion and renovations added offices for new accounts, loans, electronic services and accounting; the Community Center meeting space, upgraded the drive-thru area and the member service lobby.
“With the completion of this facility, NCCU built this Community Center with our members and our community in mind,” said David LeVeau, NCCU president and CEO.
The NCCU Community Center will be used for credit union events and training, and will also be available as a community meeting place for members, businesses and other nonprofit organizations.
Work started on the project with a groundbreaking ceremony in September 2023. Progress slowed when NCCU’s 19E Branch was flooded during Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Work was focused on salvaging as much as possible and getting a temporary 19E office open.
“We were hurt by that storm,” said LeVeau. “So many people in our community were hurting as well. We had a project of building a temporary unit, but a lot of our staff participated in the churches, in the distributions, in the giving.”
This September, NCCU celebrated the completion of the Community Center and Operations expansion. Staff have been in their new offices since December and NCCU used the new facility to host their employee Christmas lunch.
“Our success in taking care of members has allowed us to build this facility to in turn give back for our members and our community to use,” said LeVeau.
