The Baby Boomer generation is rapidly reaching retirement age, with all members set to turn 65 or older by 2030, representing close to 70 million individuals and 20% of the U.S. population. As 70% of all working age caregivers remain employed, one-third end up leaving their jobs due to high stress, and nearly 1 in 4 caregiving adults 50+ assist adults with memory decline or dementia.
In recognition of National Family Caregiving Month in November, your Association hosted an informational session featuring Debbie Howard, founder of Aging Matters International. Ms. Howard presented a customizable platform and free resources designed to help credit unions provide caregiver-friendly support to both employees and members. Given that caregiving challenges affect nearly every household and organization, credit unions are uniquely positioned to deliver strategic guidance, structured communication, skills development and ongoing support.
