What is Your Credit Union’s Employee Experience?

As an industry, we often focus on the member experience. But have you asked yourself, “What is the employee experience? Do employees have fun at work?”

Employee well-being is a big driver of employee performance and retention for all generations. According to the Great Place to Work website, data shows that employees heavily benefit from having a good time at work.

Higher salaries are always nice, especially with today’s economic headwinds. However, at the end of the day, it is about employees feeling valued. The secret recipe is competitive salaries, development opportunities, strategic succession planning in a fun, meaningful environment.

Maybe your credit union offers flexible scheduling, paid volunteer hours, dress-down days or even M&M Fridays. My former CEO passed out M&Ms every Friday afternoon! It was a great chance for him to talk to the back-office staff about their week. We enjoyed getting a sweet treat and having a one-on-one conversation with the CEO.

Share with us how your credit union is fostering a fun, meaningful culture! We’ll make a list for an upcoming article, and bonus, maybe you can use some of the ideas in your own credit union!

Fun Fact: Did you know? M&M’s are made at the Mars Wrigley’s facility in Cleveland, Tenn., just north of Chattanooga.
