More than 200 credit union professionals gathered this week in Biloxi, Miss., for the Mississippi Credit Union Annual Convention and Expo.
“We were excited to meet on the Gulf Coast to celebrate, collaborate and cultivate credit unions for our first combined Annual Convention and Expo,” said Fred Robinson, president and CEO of the Tennessee and Mississippi Credit Union Association. “We had several attendees from Tennessee who joined us in Biloxi for the annual conference.”
The Association hosted the Elwyn Pope Memorial Golf Tournament at the beautiful Preserve Golf Club on Tuesday. The course encompasses 245 pristine acres, surrounded by an additional 1,800 acres of dedicated nature preserve. Funds raised benefited the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC).
The Convention opened with the State of the Association on Wednesday evening, followed by dinner in the Exhibit Hall.
Educational sessions were held on Thursday and Friday. Linda Cohen opened Thursday’s session with a focus on intentional kindness and fostering a culture of kindness. Other presenters included an economic update from Wayne Best, chief economist with Visa, Frank Drake, attorney for Smith Debnam Law who shared tips for proper board governance and a young professionals panel discussion. The Friday morning closing keynote was by Jack Stahlman who discussed the it factor.
“We will continue to host two Annual Conventions,” said Fred. “Registration will soon open for the Tennessee Annual Convention in Gatlinburg. These meetings of our membership are valuable opportunities for professional development and networking.”
